The Golden State Warriors were a true NBA dynasty for nearly a decade. The team won four NBA championships between 2015-2022 and changed the game of basketball as we know it.
Steph Curry and Draymond Green are the last remnants of the dynasty still playing with the Warriors. The third piece of their legendary puzzle is taking on a new challenge in Miami.
Former Warriors Star Wants to Win in Miami
Klay Thompson left the Warriors and decided to join the Dallas Mavericks during the 2024 offseason. He teamed up with Luka Doncic, ready to chase a title in a new city. Then Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers and Thompson was stuck. He was relegated to being a reserve player last season and was able to negotiate a buyout this summer.
That has led him to the Miami Heat at the age of 36. He has made it clear he is going there to chase a title alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Klay Thompson says this year will be his “redemption season” and sees the Heat making a “deep postseason run” ππ₯

The former “Splash Bro” also told the assembled media he is ready to redeem himself after a down two years in Dallas. Can he do that at this stage of his career?
Former teammate Draymond Green chimed in on anyone who is calling Thompson washed.

Whether rude or not, Green made it clear this is not the peak version of Thompson. The quote seems harsh, but Green does make it clear he is trying to control expectations for who Thompson is at this point of his career. That is just being a good friend, even if it does go against what Thompson himself has said about his abilities.
Will the Klay Thompson of old show up in Miami? His recent play in Dallas seems to point toward no, but perhaps the sunshine and a stacked roster will help him recapture even a piece of his former self.
