Bill Belichick being a college football coach still feels odd. His win Saturday gives us a new sentence in the English language.
That being: Bill Belichick and the North Carolina Tar Heels opened the 2026 college football season with a win in Dublin, Ireland.
College Football Season Begins With A Bill Belichick Victory
Belichick and his Tar Heels kicked off the new season with a Week 0 win over a disappointing TCU squad that was favored by over a touchdown in the game.

This is a sharp contrast from last year’s UNC opener when they were destroyed by TCU. The final was 48-14 and the Belichick experiment seemed to be over from the start. Now, it’s TCU fans who are wondering if their season is already doomed.
Of course, we cannot mention Belichick without thinking about his much younger girlfriend, Jordon Hudson. She was not a focus of Saturday’s game as it seems the legendary coach is now trying to avoid distractions and ridicule for her essentially being his handler.
But the fact the Tar Heels won the game may mean Hudson returns in full force ready to rep her man when UNC has its home opener in two weeks against East Tennessee State.
The year is 2026 and Belichick just coached the UNC Tar Heels to a win in Ireland. He now returns home to his 25-year-old girlfriend. That would sound like a ChatGPT prompt gone rogue if you said it to a New England Patriots fan several years ago. Alas, this is the new era of college football.
